# Connect ChatGPT

Connect ChatGPT to Intangible's Model Context Protocol (MCP) server as a custom MCP plugin, then build 3D scenes from a chat.

Connect ChatGPT to Intangible by adding Intangible's Model Context Protocol (MCP) server as a custom plugin. Once connected, you build 3D scenes by typing a brief into a ChatGPT chat. The server URL is `https://mcp.intangible.ai/mcp`.

## Before you connect ChatGPT

You need an Intangible account and a ChatGPT account. Sign up for Intangible at [studio.intangible.ai](https://studio.intangible.ai/?utm_source=help.intangible.ai\&utm_medium=docs\&utm_campaign=inline-link\&utm_content=connect-chatgpt) if needed – see [Sign up and set up](/get-started/sign-up-and-set-up.md). A personal ChatGPT Plus plan can build scenes.

## ChatGPT: add the Intangible plugin

1. In ChatGPT, open **Plugins** in the sidebar.
2. Click **Add** at the top right, then **Add custom MCP server**.
3. Set the name to **Intangible** and the server URL to `https://mcp.intangible.ai/mcp`. Leave **Authentication** on **OAuth**.
4. Tick **I understand and want to continue**, then click **Create as a plugin**.

## ChatGPT: sign in to Intangible

1. ChatGPT shows **Connect Intangible**. Click **Continue to Intangible**.
2. An Intangible page reads **ChatGPT is requesting access to your Intangible account**. Click **Approve access**.

Intangible now appears under **Installed** on the Plugins page.

## ChatGPT: build a scene

1. Open a project in Studio at [studio.intangible.ai](https://studio.intangible.ai/?utm_source=help.intangible.ai\&utm_medium=docs\&utm_campaign=inline-link\&utm_content=connect-chatgpt). Close any other Studio tabs.
2. In ChatGPT, start a new chat and send:

> Use the Intangible plugin. My Studio tab is open on my project. Build a small living room: a sofa facing a TV on a low stand, a coffee table between them, and a floor lamp in the corner behind the sofa.

3. ChatGPT places the objects and tells you what it built. With the default **Allow low-risk tools** permission it does not stop to ask before each step.

For more on writing the description, see [Describe your first scene](/intangible-mcp-agents/intangible-mcp-agents.md#describe-your-first-scene).

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Keep one Studio tab open.** With two Studio tabs open, ChatGPT reports that the target is ambiguous and stops before placing anything. Close the extra tab and ask it to try again.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.intangible.ai/intangible-mcp-agents/openai/connect-chatgpt.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
